Addressing the rising rates of HIV in PNG through education and training.
GSK is also an active member of the Collaboration for Health in PNG, joining forces with five other Australian pharmaceutical companies, in partnership with ASHM- the Australian Society of HIV Medicine (ASHM) and the National Association of People Living with HIV (NAPWA).
The program works with the Catholic Health system to address the rising rates of HIV in PNG and improve the lives of those living with the disease. Specifically the program increases the health care capacity through mentoring visits and training, as well helping improve the stigma of HIV positive people through education and provision of local facilities.
The key to success has been working with local groups such as faith-based healthcare organisations.
Today the Collaboration continues to work in PNG with both their Australian and PNG partners with the long term goal of improving the health of PNG people living with HIV.
