Port Fairy Scholarship Trust

The GlaxoSmithKline Port Fairy Scholarships Trust Fund was established in 1996 to promote and encourage scholarship and education in the field of science and health sciences for students living in or originally from Port Fairy and the local district.

Under terms of the Trust, the Scholarship is awarded on an annual basis and may comprise of a series of scholarships each lasting three years with an amount of $2,000 per annum, or; a single scholarship for one year only for the amount of $6,000, or; a combination of both depending on the applicants needs, not exceeding $6,000.

The scholarship may be awarded to more than one applicant.

The GlaxoSmithKline Port Fairy Scholarship is administered by the Moyne Shire Council on behalf of Glaxo SmithKline. Since 1996, thirteen students have shared the award.

Port Fairy Pre-School Science Program

GlaxoSmithKline Australia funds and supports the Port Fairy Pre-School science program.

When the program was launched in 2004, President of the Port Fairy Pre-School, Karen Moore, said the innovative program would use science to nurture, stimulate and challenge children’s instinctive curiosity and fascination with the natural and physical world.

GSKA’s Port Fairy representative, Chris Hobson, said the pre-school science program was a perfect fit with the company’s community contributions program, which supports innovative national and local projects, in science and education, health and wellbeing.
