Community Involvement

The Australian Lung Foundation

The Australian Lung Foundation is committed to:

  • Raising funds in support of medical research into lung disease. 
  • Distributing research findings and knowledge. 
  • Educating patients and the broader public on the treatment and prevention of lung disease. 
  • Fostering Patient Support Activities 

 Influencing public and corporate policy to ensure a safe living and working environment.

During 2007: We gave $100,000 as a founding sponsor. This support was used for the following projects:

  • Clinical awareness and support – development of a pulmonary rehabilitation toolkit (a web based tool kit to help health professionals establish pulmonary rehabilitation programs in metropolitan, regional and rural settings, throughout Australia), GP Awareness activities, development of COPDX Guidelines.
  • Community awareness and education - promotion of World COPD Day through national advertising campaign, development of newsletters and educational materials. 
  • Patient support – maintenance of LungNet website and provision of LungNet support centre and seminars.
