Diabetes Australia
Diabetes Australia is the national peak body for diabetes in Australia providing a single, powerful collective voice for people living with diabetes, their families and carers. Diabetes Australia works in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including diabetes health professionals and educators, research and health care providers, to minimise the impact of diabetes on the Australian community. Diabetes Australia is turning diabetes around by focusing its efforts around five key strategies: awareness, prevention, detection, management and cure.
During 2007: GSK provided $5,000 to be a silver sponsor of the World Diabetes Day gala evening at Parliament House, Canberra. The evening celebrated the importance of the UN resolution recognising diabetes as a chronic and debilitating disease by bringing together members of the international community in Australia at Parliament House along with diabetes researchers, policy makers, patient organisations and commercial organisations.
