Gynaecological Awareness Information Network (GAIN)
Gynaecological Awareness Information Network (GAIN) is a not for profit organisation driving awareness and education on gynaecological health matters. GAIN was established to:
- Assist women to find the information they need to make the 'right' health choices for them and to provide support as they face these challenges.
- Encourage healthcare professionals to be more sensitive and responsive to the needs of women with gynaecological problems and the effects on their sexuality.
- Provide community education to promote awareness of gynaecological health, diseases and associated illnesses in the hope of early detection and proper diagnosis.
- Improve the efficiency and efficacy of resources available.
- Establish an Australian National Gynaecological Awareness Day.
In 2007: $25,000 was used by the GAIN to achieve the shared vision of raising awareness and understanding of gynaecological health among Government, health professionals and the public to improve diagnosis, management and access to treatments, via the following initiatives:
- Fostering community awareness of women’s gynaecological issues, particularly HPV and Cervical Cancer
- Promotion of National Gynaecological Day
- Providing information about HPV and cervical cancer vaccination through the GAIN website, newsletter and other promotional materials
