AusBiotech-GSK Student Excellence Awards
Would you like to present your research at an international conference?
Calling all life science and bio-engineering students: Now’s your chance to win a travel grant to present your research at an international research conference.
The AusBiotech-GSK Student Excellence Awards are national research awards, partnered exclusively by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Australia. These national awards aim to recognise and encourage research students and to raise awareness of research translation and applications.
These awards, which are now open, recognise six state winners who will be invited to compete for the national title at the AusBiotech10 conference in Melbourne. The state awards cover travel, accommodation and registration to the conference in Melbourne from 19 – 22 October 2010 (www.ausbiotech2010.com.au).
The national winner, who will be announced at the conference, will receive a $7,000 travel grant to be used to present their research at an international conference. In addition, the national winner’s principal supervisor will receive a $2,000 research grant.
“GSK is proud to support these student awards. While it’s always valuable to celebrate achievement in science, it is also so important to encourage an understanding of the business aspects of the bioscience field for those entering it. This leads to better research outcomes and a stronger people ‘pipeline’ for academia and industry in Australia.” Said Dr Ashley Bates, Head of R&D Alliances Australia/NZ GSK.
To apply, simply head to the Student Association section of the AusBiotech website(www.ausbiotech.org/studentexcellenceawards). Applications close 13 August.
